Activision have today announced the US and UK release dates for their upcoming vehicular third-person-shooter video game Transformers: Rise of the Dark Spark. Developed by Edge of Reality, the licensed tie-in to this Summer's motion picture sequel Transformers: Age of Extinction will chronicle the collision of Michael Bay's destructive band of robots with their animated TV incarnations on a variety of consoles.
Much as the film industry will surely boom over the course of the Summer of Film blockbuster season as is traditional, these months don't tend to prove particularly fruitful for the gaming industry in comparison, and since Summer 2014 is laden with tie-in efforts of this ilk, it's not especially difficult to ascertain the reason behind the slump. All the same, despite the loss of Fall of Cybertron's immensely talented development team High Moon Studios, Rise of the Dark Spark still looks to be an ambitious spiritual successor that might just stand a chance of matching its big-screen counterpart come their simultaneous launch.
Transformers: Rise of the Dark Spark mobilizes on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One, Xbox 360, Nintendo WiiU, Nintendo 3DS and PC this June 24th (US)/June 27th (UK).
