Lionsgate Entertainment have today confirmed the UK release date of their upcoming fantasy movie The Hunger Games: Mockingjay- Part 1. The penultimate instalment in the best-selling franchise of motion-picture literary adaptations, Part 1 will see the series' protagonist Katniss Everdeen lead a desperate campaign to rescue her imprisoned friend Peeta from the clutches of the Capitol whilst preparing for a momentous final battle which will ultimately determine the fate of Panem and its thirteen districts.
In a week or so's time, it'll probably begin to become challenging for film fans to imagine a time when their local cinemas weren't showing dozens of consecutive motion-pictures as we enter the Summer of Film blockbuster season. That being said, the Winter months tend to be considerably less eventful in terms of major big-screen releases, and with that lull affecting November, we've got very little doubt that Lionsgate's latest fantasy adventure will soar in the box office charts as a result. Stay tuned to On-Screen in the weeks ahead whilst we await the first teaser trailer for Part 1 and further details on how the tragic passing of star Philip Seymour-Hoffman will affect the narrative of next year's much-anticipated follow-up (which, in case you'd forgotten, will mark the franchise's finale!).
The Hunger Games: Mockingjay- Part 1 sets fire to UK cinemas nationwide this November 20th (and it will première in US cinemas the day after, November 21st).
