The CW have this week released two teaser trailers (below) for their upcoming TV superhero drama The Flash. Set in the same narrative universe as Arrow, the series will star Grant Gustin (best known for his portrayal of Sebastian Smythe in Glee) as Barry Allen, a hapless detective whose life is changed forever when a bolt of photon-infused lightning transforms him into the show's titular speedy protagonist.
The first of the two trailers is but a teaser which premièred after the credits of the final episode of Arrow Season Two, "Unthinkable". Stephen Amell has revealed that he will make a cameo as Oliver Queen in The Flash's pilot episode (and you'll see a glimpse or two of his scene in the extended trail), and whilst the teaser promo is presumably not indicative of the Canadian star's role in the episode, it does a great job of hinting at the reprisal of the witty, oft-hilarious dynamic that formed when Barry and Olly first met in the latter's mid-season finale last year. In contrast, the extended video preview essentially maps out what we can expect to see in the pilot episode, with the results seemingly being somewhat mixed so far. Here's hoping that the programme will find its feet a few instalments in, as we can't help but notice that the more pronounced fantastical elements appear to be holding it back at this point!
The Flash will dash onto The CW and Sky1 this Autumn.
