iTV have this week announced a series of new actors set to join the central cast of the second season of their murder mystery drama Broadchurch. The series, which first premièred last Summer on iTV1, originally revolved around the police investigation into a young boy's death and the personal ramifications the case had for the titular town at large, but the closely-guarded premise for the show's follow-up run has yet to be unveiled.
For now, then, we'll settle with what we do know, and without further ado, shall divulge the names of the latest guest stars confirmed to feature in the character roster for Series Two:
- Best known for her portrayal of Gwen Cooper in the beloved Doctor Who spin-off Torchwood, Eve Myles will apparently have "a central role" in the much-anticipated sequel narrative.
- Phoebe Waller-Bridge has also stepped aboard the Broadchurch bandwagon- for those who don't recognise the name, Phoebe has recently appeared in UK programmes such as Bad Education, Blandings and The Cafe.
- As difficult as it may be to believe, the show has even caught the attention of Hollywood this time around, acquiring James D'Arcy (best known for his roles in the critically acclaimed 2013 blockbusters Cloud Atlas and Hitchock) to play "a key part of [writer Chris Chibnall's] new story".
Broadchurch will return to iTV1 this Autumn.
