Disney Infinity: Marvel Super Heroes (2.0 Edition) Announced

Earth's Mightiest Heroes land in the world of Disney on current- and next-generation consoles later this year!
Disney Interactive Studios and Avalanche Studios have today announced the development of Disney Infinity: Marvel Super Heroes (2.0 Edition) for release later this year. The sequel to last August's Disney Infinity will basically do what it says on the tin, introducing classic Marvel superheroes such as the Avengers, the Guardians of the Galaxy and Spider-Man along with all of the super powers for which they've come to be known and loved ever since their comic-book inception.

Although Avalanche's decision to shift from the beloved realms of Disney (Infinity having placed its emphasis exclusively on brands owned exclusively by the House of Mouse such as Pirates of the Caribbean and The Incredibles) will no doubt startle fans of the series' first outing, they've nothing to worry about- note that the words 2.0 Edition are included in parentheses within the follow-up's title, presumably implying that further instalments in the second "phase" (as Marvel's Agents of SHIELD's Clark Gregg himself called it upon taking to the stage of Disney's live reveal event) of Infinity are on the way too. Indeed, while we're ecstatic to see how effectively the newly introduced open-world Manhattan functions as a hub for 20 of the Earth's Mightiest Heroes (this time, you'll get ahold of the Black Widow, Iron Man and Thor figures in the £60 Starter Pack for use in-game) in the Avengers Play Set, not to mention how diverse the customisation options are for those players who create their own superheroic apartments and landscapes in the Toy Box mode, the notion of having a Play Set which combines The Incredibles and The Avengers is far more tantalising still, so we'll hold our breath for more announcements along these lines as we move closer to release!

Disney Infinity: Marvel Super Heroes (2.0 Edition) will retail for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One, Xbox 360, Nintendo WiiU, PC and iOS devices this Autumn.
