Warner Brothers Pictures have today released an extended theatrical trailer for their upcoming fantasy film Godzilla. A remake of the 1954 classic of the same name, this franchise reboot stars Breaking Bad's Bryan Cranston, Kick-Ass's Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Captain America: The Winter Soldier's Elizabeth Olsen, although those will probably be the only big names you'll have heard of in the relatively low-key ensemble of performers.
In all honesty, however, we're not really coming to Godzilla for a philosophically-charged drama with a plethora of esteemed human thespians, are we? It's CGI-fuelled chaos we want from this one, and by jove, it's CGI-fuelled chaos we're going to get, at least if the cracking new trail (below) is anything to go on. Come May, Warner Brothers are facing up against X-Men: Days of Future Past, Maleficent and A Million Ways to Die in the West at the box office, so it's pretty reassuring to see that they're evidently bringing their A-game in terms of special effects and grandeur- now let's just hope that there's a little more emotional depth here than we're likely to receive in Transformers: Age of Extinction the next month.
Godzilla stampedes into cinemas worldwide on May 16th.
