A brief tribute to the late journalist and TV presenter.We are saddened to report the passing of Peaches Geldof, who died of unknown causes on Thursday April 10th in her home in Kent. The daughter of renowned Irish rock artist Bob Geldof, Peaches was a talented British journalist and TV presenter who won't soon be forgotten by our sector of the entertainment industry.
Much as was the case with Cory Monteith's demise last Summer, at the heart of the emotional pathos of this tragic event is the truly untimely nature of Peaches' departure from this world. At the age of just 25, she was just six years older than this writer, and thus to report her immensely premature passing is a challenge which, if nothing else, puts life into perspective for myself and no doubt many of you reading this brief obituary piece. That Peaches mothered two children in her lifetime and yet has left them at such a young age speaks wonders for her lost potential, and indeed, one can only begin to imagine the extent of the immeasurable void which she will leave in her offspring's lives. Though it would border on selfishness to compare the pair, we at least hope that the Geldof family know that a similarly devastating void now exists within the industry, one which (rightly) will never be filled.
Our thoughts go out to the Geldof family and their friends during this period of immense grief and necessary cherishing of the time which they spent in this lost idol's company. Rest In Peace, Peaches.
