Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes DLC Missions Announced

Solid Snake's not-so-extensive prologue receives a couple of much-needed bonus levels.
Konami have this week announced the release of two downloadable extra missions for their third-person-shooter stealth video game Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes. Despite it merely being intended as a prologue to the upcoming Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain by its developers, the title met with a mixed reception upon its release last month, not least due to the combination of its downright insulting two-hour running time and its £20 pricetag here in the UK.

Perhaps these add-ons will work to Ground Zeroes' favour, though, even if they do render previous console exclusivity deals rather pointless. First up is a side mission which goes by the name "Jamais Vu", tasking players with taking control of Raiden (last seen in Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance) as he fights ferocious body snatching-foes in the same base which Snake infiltrates in the game's main campaign. After that, seasoned fans of the franchise will have the chance to witness a blast from the past as Snake and his enemies appear to revert to their 1990s guises in a cunning visual shift back to the graphics of the beloved original Metal Gear Solid trilogy. The former of the pair was exclusive to Xbox owners until now, whereas the latter was exclusive to those who had a PS3 and PS4 in their possession, but from this week onwards, it won't matter in the slightest which version of Ground Zeroes (if any, though the decent sales figures clearly show that a substantial number of players fell into the trap of buying it) you own.

Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes' two new DLC missions will be available to purchase on the Xbox 360 and Xbox One's Xbox Live Marketplace and the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3's PSN this May 1st.
