Lionsgate Studios have this week released the teaser trailer (below) for their upcoming action blockbuster The Expendables 3. Set after the events of the 2012 entry The Expendables 2, the third instalment in the bemusingly successful saga of big-screen shoot-em-ups will see Barney Ross' titular team of renegade heroes battle an old foe who's hell-bent on taking them down one by one.
As ever, The Expendables 3's major selling point is its cast, and in this respect (if nothing else), the film won't disappoint action fans in the slightest. Expect a few surprise cameos to be housed within the movie itself come release day, but here's the confirmed list of stars set to appear in some capacity: Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham, Jet Li, Dolph Lundgren, Randy Couture, Terry Crews, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Mel Gibson, Harrison Ford, Wesley Snipes, Antonio Banderas, Kellan Lutz, Ronda Rousey, Victor Ortiz, Glen Powell, Kelsey Grammar and Robert Davi. Few film-goers would likely deny that that's a formidable ensemble to be reckoned with in the Summer of Film 2014, yet as sure as day turns to night, the threequel is all-but-guaranteed to sport a narrative which has about as much depth as The Smurfs or Planes, an inevitably detrimental factor which we'd thoroughly recommend that viewers take into consideration before spending their hard-earned cash on yet another soulless, borderline-desperate effort from an ensemble whose expiration dates have long since passed.
The Expendables 3 assembles in cinemas worldwide this August 15th.
