Final X-Men: Days of Future Past Theatrical Trailer Released

Timelines will collide on the big screen this Summer, but why wait that long to get a glimpse?
20th Century Fox have this week released the final theatrical trailer (below) for their impending science-fiction superhero movie X-Men: Days of Future Past. Set in the aftermath of both 2011's X-Men: First Class and 2013's The Wolverine, this much-anticipated follow-up chronicles the formative journey of Charles Xavier from being a despondent fallen warrior to taking on the mantle of Professor X and offering crucial hope to countless generations of mutants to come.

You can check out the video itself below this text, but that's not where this latest news update on Days ends by any stretch. As shocking as it might seem, a new scene taken directly from the film has made its début in the credits of none other than Sony Pictures' recently-released superhero blockbuster The Amazing Spider-Man 2. Rather than including a post-credits sequence of their own to tease future instalments in the Webbed Wonder's cinematic franchise (but trust us, the movie itself does a more-than-adequate job of that anyway), due to a contractual obligation which director Marc Webb owes to Fox after skipping a project of theirs in favour of Sony's divisive second outing, they've placed a scene from Days of Future Past involving Mystique, Havok and William Stryker towards the end of the credits. We shan't spoil any specifics on precisely what transpires in the aforementioned clip, but suffice to say that it has literally nothing to do with Andrew Garfield's latest turn as everyone's favourite web-slinger, so it comes off as more than a little jarring in this particular context. All the same, The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is definitely worth your time even without the post-credits X-Men sting (my review of the movie will be up soon), and fans are hardly going to discourage these kind of cross-studio promotional stunts anytime soon!

X-Men: Days of Future Past materializes in UK cinemas nationwide on May 22nd.
