Game of Thrones Season Four Episodes 6-8 Titles Confirmed

Gods, mockingbirds and mountains will converge in upcoming instalments of the show that everyone's talking about.
HBO have this weekend announced the titles of the sixth, seventh and eighth episodes of the fourth season of their hit fantasy drama Game of Thrones. The series returned last Monday with Two Swords and will continue its run for ten consecutive weeks, adapting the storylines of George R.R. Martin's novels A Storm of Swords and A Feast for Crows in the process.

Rather than simply listing the newly-unveiled titles, we've provided a few speculatory notes alongside them to fuel discussion of what's to come in Season Four (don't worry, though, they're spoiler-free!). Without further ado, then, let's begin:

  • Episode 6 will go by the name The Laws of Gods and Men. Those who've watched any of the trailers for Season Four will recall that we see Tyrion Lannister in chains and Tywin, Cersei, Margaery and Oberyn presiding over a trial for his as-of-yet unknown crime, so there's a strong possibility that this will be the episode where those events come to pass.
  • Episode 7 is dubbed Mockingbird (not to be confused with this year's third chapter in the Hunger Games film franchise, The Hunger Games: Mockingjay- Part 1). Lord Petyr Baelish (aka Littlefinger) is known to wear a mockingbird pin from time to time, and as such, we'd wager that the seventh instalment of Season Four will place the majority of its narrative focus on his actions and their relation to one Sansa Stark...
  • Episode 8 holds the title of The Mountain and the Viper. These two animalisitic titles apply to Sandor Clegane (brother to the Hound and aid to King Joffrey) and Oberyn Martell, and indeed, in trailers for Season Four, we've seen the two characters face off in a battle area (again, though, we shan't spoil quite why they're doing so just yet!). Who knows how such a confrontation would conclude...?
Game of Thrones continues with The Lion and the Rose tomorrow, April 14th at 9pm on Sky Atlantic.
