DreamWorks Pictures have today released the first promotional clip for their impending animated film How To Train Your Dragon 2. The long-awaited follow-up to 2011's How To Train Your Dragon will depict Hiccup and Toothless' first encounters with a vast range of different dragon communities and a deadly new enemy who threatens to render their entire species extinct.
For any viewer who attended a screening of any of the films being shown at ODEON right now over the Easter weekend, this clip will seem mighty familiar, and that's because the cinema chain launched it alongside all of their screenings for four days only to help DreamWorks further promote the sequel here in the UK. As marketing stunts go, we'd wager that this is likely to go down as one of the more effective examples for the animated genre in 2014, especially since dozens upon dozens of kids were likely taken to see Rio 2 once they had overdosed on chocolate last Sunday. Here's hoping that the production team can trump the aforementioned Easter cash-in parrot film by miles when they launch what looks to be this year's hottest animated effort (barring The LEGO Movie, of course) in three months' time!
How To Train Your Dragon 2 unleashes its fire upon UK cinemas nationwide this July 4th.
