We are saddened to relay the news of the passing of Mickey Rooney, who died of natural causes in his sleep on Sunday April 6th at the age of 93. A thespian whose filmography stretched from 1938 to the present day, the beloved American actor's legacy within his industry will without a shadow of a doubt be eternal.
The saddening reality is that Mickey's work will probably have passed many of our readers by, not least since in recent times he has only been able to make minor cameos in acclaimed motion pictures such as 2011's The Muppets. Nevertheless, it's passings such as these which often remind us to reignite our efforts to research and engage with the original works which elevated the film industry to the level of esteem that it holds today, and Mickey's supremely accomplished performances in classic big-screen productions such as A Midsummer Night's Dream (1935) and Live, Love and Learn (1937) will certainly be remembered as having a paramount effect in this regard.
