Strictly Come Dancing Presenter Departure Announced

BBC One's hit show will "keep dancing" this Autumn, but it'll do so without Bruce Forsyth.
The BBC have today announced the departure of Sir Bruce Forsyth from the presenting team of their weekly ballroom series Strictly Come Dancing. Set to return to BBC One later this year, the programme will resultantly play host to a new presenter alongside the returning Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman, although details on just who might take up the role are still up in the air at this early stage.

As saddening as it may be for some of the hardened Strictly fans out there to admit, this particular development has been a long time coming, and if anything, the only genuine surprise here is that Forsyth's departure has been put off for a remarkable eleven seasons. The 86-year old entertainer has demonstrated truly commendable loyalty to one of the BBC's longest-running flagship projects over the years, and it seems only right that he will return for Strictly's Christmas Specials and one-off episodes in the years ahead. Now, who do we have to call to set the same retirement process in motion for a certain outdated Children In Need presenter...?
